What is Link’d DMR?

Link’d DMR is an independent project building a hybrid push-to-talk communications platform for Android. It is designed to connect teams three ways: cellular push-to-talk over Wi-Fi, 4G, or 5G; offline phone-to-phone Wi-Fi mesh when internet service disappears; and optional bridging into real DMR or analog radio systems through compatible gateway hardware such as the CJ-1.

Link’d DMR is currently in active development and private owner testing. Cellular PTT, offline mesh, automatic switching, radio gateways, and hardware compatibility must complete real-device and field validation before wider release.

Link’d DMR uses provisioned device access rather than a traditional account sign-up.

  1. Download the signed APK.

  2. Install it on a supported Android device.

  3. Receive an authorized provisioning QR or device certificate.

  4. Select permitted talkgroups.

  5. Connect a supported gateway if RF is needed.

  6. Begin private-beta testing.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can I download the app right now?

Not yet. The build is distributed privately to approved beta testers as a signed APK. The download page will show version, checksum, and signing details once a public release is published.

Does it work with my existing DMR radios?

Radio bridging requires a compatible, validated gateway such as the CJ-1. Support depends on the exact device, radio interface, licensing, and configuration — universal radio compatibility is not claimed.

How far does the offline mesh reach?

Early design estimates range from roughly 100–500 feet per ordinary phone-to-phone hop in open conditions. Dedicated relays and properly installed directional Wi-Fi bridges may extend coverage significantly. Actual results depend on terrain, device hardware, mounting, interference, and line of sight.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Link’d DMR uses provisioned device access: approved testers receive an authorized provisioning QR code or device certificate instead of a traditional email/password sign-up.

Is my voice audio stored on servers?

Live audio is designed not to be stored server-side. Final behavior will be documented once the deployed backend completes verification.
